Art Theory Book Club
Join the Art Theory Book Club for their upcoming meeting, during which they will discuss the first two sections of Mapping the Terrain: New Genre Public Art, the 1994 anthology edited by Suzanne Lacy. This seminal text, now in its third printing and available in both English and Mandarin, was responsible for both coining the term “new genre public art” and articulating the practice.

About the Art Theory Book Club, in the words of founder Alessandor Earnest:
ATBC is a community of artists and others who want to actively engage with people who DO. Yes, we read books and discuss them, but our focus is on applying what we have read to individual practice and the contemporary world. We try to hash out whether the concerns that drove the author to write what they did are still present today and how we can explore them through our own work. We encourage cross-disciplinary participation (writers, philosophers, scientists, artists) to bring together differing perspectives because we believe this will help us reach new and possibly better conclusions.
