EXPERIMENTATIONS is the final series at 3307 W Washington Blvd, presenting site-responsive performance, sound, and installations. Artists collaborate with 3307 director Amanda Martin Katz to engage the location as both concept and architecture: each project explores methods of embodiment in experiential art practices and obverts the codes of domesticity and labor embedded within the studio’s structure and interior design.

After concluding the BOOKSHELVES program, 3307 became, simply, Katz’s studio. EXPERIMENTATIONS intends to honor this space as an intimate platform for intellectual exchange, in which Katz offers artists conceptual and somatic frameworks to expand their practices through the production of a new collaborative work. This series extends the same type of engagement that formed the curatorial approach for BOOKSHELVES from 2016 to 2019—months of exploratory dialogue that ultimately responds to the site as a “host”—to try things we haven’t before, to push our practices forward by experimentating.
