Common Field is excited to invite your organization to participate as a host organization for our Satellite Dinner project on Friday, November 3, 2017 as part of our Convening programming right here in Los Angeles. We’re reaching out to a small number of organizations that we would love to collaborate with on this initiative, and that will bring arts organizers from across the country into your spaces for a shared meal.

Common Field’s 2017 Los Angeles Convening, taking place from November 2-5, 2017, provides a critical opportunity for Los Angeles network members and participants to create connections and alliances that can enhance the visibility and support for artists’ organizations in Los Angeles into the future. We are hopeful you’d like your organization to participate as part of this unique experience!

This is how the Satellite Dinners works:

-We expect between 350 to 400 people to attend the Common Field Convening from November 2-5, 2017. We’ll break this group into groups of approximately 20 people and send them to have dinner around Los Angeles at one of 20+ locations. The Convening organizers believe that one way for this group to really see Los Angeles is to share intimate meals around the city in your spaces. It’s the spaces you create and the communities you build that makes the artist organization community in LA so vital. Also, a more intimate meal allows people to meet and connect on a different level, while having a creative experience.

-We will be provide stipends for each person that attends your distributed dinner to support your overhead costs. We are happy to provide $17 per person.   

-We ask you to fill out a FORM giving us some detailed information on how many people you can host, where you are located and what you can manage.

-Based on the details you provide us, we’ll select a group best suited for your space from our Convening attendees, as we would like to encourage and assist in facilitating an engaging and meaningful experience for everyone!

-We want this dinner to reflect your practice and spotlight the incredible work you do, which means that we are giving you creative control to organize a dinner experience of your own making! When this project was conceived of and realized in 2015 in Minneapolis, 18 groups hosted meals and did everything from cook to order in, they hosted performances, a pancake dinner, an artist cooked meal and more. It was an incredibly creative experience and a highlight for many of the gathering.

What we need from you:

-If you are interested in hosting a dinner, please fill out this short FORM to confirm your participation, and share important information we need to know in determining capacity, transportation logistics, dietary/allergy info, accessibility accommodations, etc. by Wednesday, October 25th.
