Gifts to the Collection

This arrangement of the BOOKSHELVES sculpture highlights new acquisitions in the permanent collection that were gifted over the three-year lifespan of the associated residency program (2016-2019). Organized by year, these additions resulted from conversations or other meaningful interactions I had because of this project. This arrangement remained on display from the conclusion of the final BOOKSHELVES residency until the beginning of new programming. While discrete items, these gifts are collectively symbolic of a type of generous exchange that helped to sustain me while operating an artist-run platform. The titles reflect, almost uncannily, the thematic foci of my project and how they shifted over time, as well as the networked community that has grown from what I lovingly call this “spaceprogram.”
